Diederik Van Wassenaer

Diederik van Wassenaer’s illustrious career spans over 24 years, primarily at ING Bank N.V., where he began as General Counsel before transitioning into a prominent banking role. His tenure at ING concluded in October 2023 upon his retirement, marking the culmination of a distinguished career.

Before joining ING in 1999, Mr van Wassenaer served as a partner at the esteemed law firm of Nauta Dutilh, with offices in Rotterdam, New York, and London, specialising in financial and corporate law.

Currently serving as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Bank Mendes Gans N.V., Mr van Wassenaer brings extensive governance experience to the table. His contributions extend beyond the corporate realm, as he holds key positions in various non-profit organisations. He currently serves as Chairman of Stichting Twickel, Stichting RCOAK, Stichting Bouwstenen voor Dierenwelzijn, and the Netherlands-British Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, he serves as treasurer of the Carnegie Foundation and the Hague Centre for International Law, while also chairing the Audit Committee of Stichting Clingendael.
