Hennie Verbeek-Kusters

Head of the Financial Intelligence Unit for the Netherlands

Hennie Verbeek-Kusters has been serving as the Head of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) for the Netherlands since August 2008. In this role, she has been instrumental in building and structuring the unit from its inception. Her leadership extends to both national and international levels, including chairing various committees within the Egmont Group, a global network of FIUs and serving as the Chair of the Advisory Board of Information Centre on Criminal Assets and Unexplainable Wealth (ICOV). Ms Verbeek-Kusters’ expertise in financial crime extends to her involvement in public-private partnerships, such as the Fintell Alliance NL, and her contributions to projects combating financial migration crime and human trafficking. With a background in law enforcement, including leadership positions in the National Crime Squad and regional police forces, she brings a wealth of experience in investigating serious organised crimes. Her dedication to combating financial crime and fostering collaboration across jurisdictions underscores her impactful leadership in the field. Ms Verbeek-Kusters holds a MA Executive Master at the Dutch Police Academy.
