Jamie Hughes

Director of Wildlife Crime Investigations

Jamie Hughes is a former UK police officer with 25 years’ experience investigating organised crime. He served as a Detective Sergeant for New Scotland Yard and ran a covert operations team for the UK National Crime Squad before being promoted to Principal Officer for the UK National Crime Agency in Afghanistan.  He specialises in covert investigation and counter trafficking techniques.

Jamie has been working in the field of counter wildlife trafficking since 2011. He joined the Wildlife Justice Commission in 2016 as a Senior Investigator in Asia where he led numerous successful operations against prominent wildlife traffickers. As the Director of Wildlife Crime Investigations Jamie manages our global investigations team and works with our international law enforcement partners to target wildlife criminals worldwide.
