Former politician, author, Former Member of the European Parliament (MEP), held several European Commission positions. Award-winning environmentalist.

Mr. Johnson is a former senior official of the European Commission and a former Member of the European Parliament (1979-1984) where he was Vice-Chairman of the European Parliament’s Committee on the Environment. Mr. Johnson is currently an Ambassador for the United Nations Convention on Migratory Species (CMS). He is the author of numerous books about the environment, including UNEP: Forty Years of International Environmental Policy; The Environmental Policy of the European Community; and World Population and the United Nations, as well as 10 novels and two volumes of autobiography. Mr. Johnson has been honoured with awards for his services to the environment by Greenpeace, RSPCA, WWF and the RSPB, notably in connection with his work on the EU Habitats Directive and the creation of the NATURA 2000 network of protected areas.
