The Hague, 20 May 2016 -World Endangered Species Day – Wildlife Crime graphics series illustrating ‘supply & demand’ – no.3 Pangolin

Between 2006 and 2015 more than a million have been poached from the wild and traded illegally which makes the Pangolin the most trafficked mammal on the planet.

The highest demand on the black market comes from China and Vietnam. Due to its extremely high prices the meat and final products made of its scales are seen as a symbol of high status in Asian culture. Our investigations team encounters illegal pangolin products every day.
