World Wildlife Fund (WWF) has launched a global petition asking Viet Nam Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc to take action to end the illegal trade in ivory and rhino horn in Viet Nam.
Viet Nam plays a key role in the trade, yet little action has been taken. On November 17-18, the country will host a critical International Conference on Illegal Wildlife Trade in Hanoi.
The WWF petition will be delivered to the Prime Minister before this conference, with the aim of adding global public pressure on the Vietnamese government to get serious about cracking down on wildlife crime.
The petition also refers to the Wildlife Justice Commission’s Viet Nam investigation. The Public Hearing for which will directly preceed the Hanoi conference.
